Try Scuba Course
Our Discover Scuba Diving is a 4-hour program for people who want to try scuba diving with a minimal time and money spent. You don’t need any previous experience to try underwater scuba diving, this program is designed for the complete beginner.
Discover Scuba Diving on Gili Trawangan
The program includes basic dive theory, a session in the swimming pool to get you comfortable, and an ocean dive with one of our experienced instructors. The confined water practice session is executed in one of our two swimming pools. The open water scuba dive that follows is done on one of many suitable dive sites for beginner level divers around the Gili Islands. The maximum depth of the dive in the ocean is 12 meters deep. The time spend in the ocean is dependable on how quickly you finish the air in the scuba tank, but is normally around 45 minutes.
We like to keep our group sizes very small, so there will no more than four divers per instructor. If you are travelling with a bigger group, there will be multiple scuba instructors to ensure a safe and enjoyable dive experience. Our instructor team covers a wide range of languages, so instructions are most likely available in your native language too!

Scuba dive certification
The Discover Scuba Dive program does not result in a certification, but it can be counted as the first day of the Open Water Course. After two extra days - where you will do another session in the swimming pool and 3 more ocean dives - you will get certified to 18 meters. You will just have to pay the difference between the Try Dive and the Open Water Course, there is no extra charge.
Are you not interested in a certification, but you would like to go for more ocean dives, then this is also possible. For an extra 900.000 IDR you can go out for more dives without having to practice in the swimming pool again. Our dive times are 09.00, 11.30 and 14.30.
Photo’s/video's or it didn't happen
To always remember your introduction dive on Gili Trawangan we have professional photographers/videographers available on each dive trip for great memories. One of them will come along on your ocean dive with a professional camera set-up to take photos or videos. You will get a lasting memory of your scuba dive on Gili T! The price of an edited photo or video package is depending on the group size, but varies between 400.000IDR - 500.000IDR per person.

Why Choose Technical Diving?

Meet Clem, our Technical Diving Instructor
From there, she expanded her teaching range with numerous specialties, alongside regularly leading fun and challenging technical dives. Over the years, she has gained invaluable experience teaching and diving in a wide variety of environments; from the cold, murky waters of the English Channel to the deep wrecks of the Maltese islands, and the vibrant marine life of Oman.
She joined Gili Divers in 2021 where she has taken on the task of growing a dedicated technical diving department. With a focus on personalised training, her main drive is always to create a safe and supportive teaching environment to encourage all divers to progress toward pushing their limits.
With a strong passion for deep diving and mentoring, she aims to empower students by giving them the confidence to achieve their diving goals. As a JJ-CCR Mod2 Mixed Gas diver, she enjoys exploring deep reefs and has a special love for historical wrecks.

Depending on the location, participants may encounter turtles, sharks, moray eels, anemone fish, angelfish and rays. However, sightings cannot be guaranteed as they depend on various factors such as location, time of day, and environmental conditions.
The minimum age requirement varies by diving organization but is typically around 10 to 12 years old. Parental consent may be required for minors.
Yes, after the Try Scuba program, individuals can further their education by joining the second day of the Open Water Diver course.
The program includes a short theory session followed by a confined water dive to practice basic skills. It can be completed in about four hours.
While having some basic swimming skills is handy, it's not always necessary. However, comfort in the water is essential for enjoying the diving experience.
