Eco Divemaster Course
Are you looking to get more out of your divemaster course? Then the eco divemaster program is the perfect fit for you. You receive the high quality divemaster training Gili Divers is known for, and you become an eco diver by adding marine conservation training taught by our in house environmental scientist, Bethany.
What to expect
Our eco divemaster program is the ultimate combination of conservation and professional training, and the best thing is; it can be done simultaneously. This means you can apply your knowledge right away on the next dive.
This course is ideal for those who want to advance their diving career, as it is a stepping stone into exciting opportunities in the recreational dive industry, scientific research diving or commercial dive training. For marine biology- and environmental science students, this program is the perfect place to put your knowledge into practise.
What sets the Gili Divers Eco Divemaster program apart
Finding the balance between an exceptional Divemaster internship and an extraordinary conservation program can be challenging, but we dare to say our course is exactly that. And let’s not forget a lot of fun and making friends for life, because this place will become a second home to you.
Head of our Eco Dive department is Bethany, whose knowledge and enthusiasm will even convert the biggest climate change denier into an eco-warrior. On a typical course day (see the example schedule below) she will take you out on a Coral Gardening dive in the morning, followed by a theory lecture about different species of coral. In the afternoon you get pared up with one of the other instructors and help out on a try scuba or open water course.
Because that will make all the difference, the real students you will be helping out with. In Gili Divers there are plenty of courses to assist and plenty of fundives to guide; real hands-on experience, no role play. A great opportunity to share your passion with other divers and create more ocean enthusiasts. During the eco divemaster internship, you will gain seven certifications, this includes the Ocean Quest Coral Propagation course.

Why Choose Technical Diving?

Meet Clem, our Technical Diving Instructor
From there, she expanded her teaching range with numerous specialties, alongside regularly leading fun and challenging technical dives. Over the years, she has gained invaluable experience teaching and diving in a wide variety of environments; from the cold, murky waters of the English Channel to the deep wrecks of the Maltese islands, and the vibrant marine life of Oman.
She joined Gili Divers in 2021 where she has taken on the task of growing a dedicated technical diving department. With a focus on personalised training, her main drive is always to create a safe and supportive teaching environment to encourage all divers to progress toward pushing their limits.
With a strong passion for deep diving and mentoring, she aims to empower students by giving them the confidence to achieve their diving goals. As a JJ-CCR Mod2 Mixed Gas diver, she enjoys exploring deep reefs and has a special love for historical wrecks.

The divemaster program is overseen by our Divemaster instructor Leanne, she makes sure everyone gets the maximum out of their training. The Eco courses are in the hands of Bethany, whose passion for the environment and marine life are dangerously infectious.
The Eco Divemaster program is run all year round, so you can step in when ever is most convenient for you.
Minimum six weeks is needed to become a competent Eco Divemaster, but our program does not have a maximum time so you can take as much time as needed.
Unlimited dives are included in the course.
Yes, the practical adaptations of the course are valuable for everyone. Having a degree in the field will mean you can adapt your knowledge to the local environment.
